“2nd time in a year” – Salman Butt on India’s wicketless bowling versus England in T20 World Cup 2022 semis

Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt says India should be concerned about their bowling after failing to take a wicket against England in the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final. He mentioned India’s T20 World Cup 2021 opening versus Pakistan.

In the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final in Adelaide, England won the toss and asked India to bat. Blue scored 168/6. Alex Hales (86* off 47) and Jos Buttler (80* off 49) compiled an unbroken 170 as England won by 10 wickets to reach the final.

Since the knockout match, Team India’s bowling has been under scrutiny. Butt responded on YouTube:

“India’s bowling is being discussed because the batters scored (almost) 170 in the semi-final and the bowlers took no wickets. Twice in a year. Alarms will sound. Take five or six wickets and finish the game. People will be worried.”

Pakistan beat India by 10 wickets in their T20 World Cup 2021 opener. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan hit half-centuries as Pakistan chased 152 in Dubai.Ravi Shastri wants to develop Umran Malik’s speed.

Ravi Shastri said Team India’s bowling lacks a genuine pacer.

He said Umran Malik’s New Zealand tour would help him improve. Shastri told Prime Video:

“He’s one of India’s fastest bowlers, and his pace shocked opponents at the World Cup, including Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, and Anrich Nortje.”

Pace is essential. Even if you’re protecting minor totals, Umran can benefit from this exposure.”

Umran has played three T20Is for India, taking two wickets at 56 and 12.44.
