After 1998, India stopped playing Pakistan because they always lost. But now…’: Razzaq’s shocking ‘bilateral series’ claim

During the ODI World Cup in India, archrivals India and Pakistan will play against each other for the first time in almost a year. The famous match will take place at the Narendra Modi venue in Ahmedabad, which holds the record for most seats in a cricket venue. Pakistan’s last trip to India was in 2016 for the T20 World Cup. This will be their first trip to India since then.

Due to political tensions between the countries, the only time the two sides meet is at ICC events. India has never lost in the ODI World Cup, but Pakistan beat their biggest enemies for the first time by 10 wickets in the T20 World Cup in 2021. Last year, India won the T20 World Cup match between these two teams by four wickets. It was a very exciting game.

“We are friends and respect each other. The only team that doesn’t play against Pakistan is the Indian team. From 1997 to 1998, they didn’t play us very often because we were so good and they always lost. Now, in 2023, things are different, but we still need to change the way we think. “It doesn’t matter how big or small a team is; what matters is how they do on the day,” Razzaq told Cricadda.

“Both teams play well. You can’t say that Pakistan is a weak team. Can you tell which team in the Ashes game is better? The team that does well wins, plain and simple. “We have to get out of this and play matches and series against each other,” Razzaq added.

After their five ODIs in Canada, there were no bilateral games between the two teams until 2004. This was because political issues were getting worse. In the end, Sourav Ganguly led Team India on a tour of Pakistan that same year. The team won 3-2 in ODIs and 2-1 in Tests.

The ODI World Cup game between India and Pakistan is on October 15. If these two teams meet in the semi-final, the game will be held in Kolkata.
