AFTER HIS CRASH WITH SRH IN THE IPL 2023, DAVID WARNER WAS FINED 12 LAKH BY THE BCCI.

On April 24, 2023, at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, the Delhi Capitals won their second game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season. After the game, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) fined David Warner 12 Lakh.

The captain of the Delhi Capitals, David Warner, has been found guilty of violating the IPL’s code of conduct. The franchise reportedly won by 7 runs in the 34th Match of the TATA IPL 2023. They should have kept the proper over rate, but they didn’t.

Each innings in the IPL consists of 90 minutes of bowling time. This includes the two time-outs that could be used strategically during the game. It doesn’t factor in the DRS clock or player injuries. A team will be in violation of the IPL code of conduct if they consistently take longer than the allotted amount of time to bowl an inning.

If the squad repeats the same offense for the first time, the captain will be hit with a 12 Lakh fine. The skipper would be fined 24 Lakhs if this happens a second time. If a player’s match fees are less than 6 Lakhs, they will only be charged 25% of those payments. Since this is Delhi Capitals’ first infraction in IPL 2023, BCCI has fined David Warner 12 Lakhs.

IPL 2023: IPL’s Official Statement for David Warner

“Delhi Capitals captain David Warner has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. As it was his team’s first offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offenses, Warner was fined Rs. 12 lakhs”, informed BCCI’s official Statement.

After being put into bat first, Delhi Capitals posted a respectable 144 runs despite losing 9 wickets. Manish Pandey and Axar Patel each tallied 34 runs for their teams. They scored a total of six fours between them.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad were unable to reach the objective because their batting order disintegrated during the course of the 20 overs. Mayank Agarwal, who came one run short of a half century, led the team in runs scored. Axar Patel was honored as the game’s MVP.
