The price that Punjab Kings paid for English all-rounder Sam Curran was a huge INR 18.5 crore. Then, Australian all-rounder Cameron Green signed a deal with MI worth INR 17.5 crore. Many former cricket players and cricket experts are talking about who they think will be the best batter, best bowler, and best teams for the next season. Anil Kumble, the former head coach of PBKS, was asked one of these kinds of questions on a Jio Cinema chat show. He was asked to choose the IPL players who were the most underrated. And he answered,
“That’s a tough one. Underrated player. In recent past, I would Mayank Agarwal as an underrated player. From a bowling perspective, I don’t think he gets as much credit, but what he has done, Yuzvendra Chahal has changed the fortunes of whichever team he has played for.”
Notably, Agarwal was the captain of PBKS in 2022, but the franchise later let him go. The Indian batter was then signed by Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 8.25 crore. He is one of only a few people who have played in more than 100 IPL games.
Agarwal has played in 113 games since his first one in 2011. He has scored 2,327 runs at a rate of 22.29 per game and a strike rate of 134.28. He has also made one hundred and twelve fifty-fives. On the other hand, Chahal took 27 wickets in 2022 and won the “Orange Cap.” He has 166 wickets in 131 IPL games, and RR decided to keep him.
