Anjum Chopra: “The belief of scoring runs and chasing targets around 170-180 has been heartening to see.”

Anjum Chopra praised India Women’s home T20I series versus Australia Women. Despite playing well, the Blues lost 1-4.

Harmanpreet Kaur and co. lost by 54 runs after failing to score 197. Deepti Sharma scored a half-century but was unsupported. Heather Graham’s 4/8 from two overs included a hat-trick.

Anjum said on YouTube that India had some positives despite losing the series. The cricketer-turned-commentator noted that Indian batters can chase large runs.

“India had some benefits despite losing the series. After losing the first game, they won the next. It’s nice to see a belief in scoring runs and pursuing 170-180. Better fight-and-stay-in-match intent.”

Former India captain Anjum praised the bowlers’ intent. She praised debutante Anjali Sarvani. Anjum explained.

“The bowling unit is confident after adding Anjali Sarvani. The series’ finest find.” Debuting versus Australia will boost her confidence. She’s a baller and can score runs. She’s a great outfielder. She’s a plus.”

Anjali, a left-arm medium-fast bowler, took three wickets in five matches, besting 2/34.

Anjum Chopra: “They’ve been quite inconsistent”
Anjum said Harmanpreet and co. suffered due to a lack of consistency in their performances.

Anjum said Indian players need to adjust to situations better for the next Women’s T20 World Cup.

“Inconsistency plagued India in this series. The Indian team’s consistency dropped from eight to 6.5-7. Inconsistent performance.” Grace Harris said they adjusted how they batted against Deepti Sharma. When she bowled straight, they shifted and hit the ground. Thus, adaptability. If Australia can change fast, so must we.”

India will next play a T20I series in South Africa against the West Indies.
