Australia choose to bowl with Zampa and Maxwell, while India stays the same

Australia elected to bowl against India.

Australia chose to bowl with a few alterations against India in the second Twenty20 International in Thiruvananthapuram. Matthew Wade made the call anticipating that the pitch will improve later and hoping that dew would play a part later. The field was covered in a large amount of grass that appeared to be dry.

Wade made two changes to the team that was defeated in the opening Twenty20 International on Thursday. Adam Zampa and Glenn Maxwell, who were both World Cup champions as recently as Sunday, were substituted for Aaron Hardie and Jason Behrendorff.

Given that India also anticipated dew later, Suryakumar Yadav stated he too intended to bowl first. India was playing this game exactly the same.

There were several damp areas on the outfield on Saturday night due to the rain that fell in the lead-up to the game. On Sunday night, though, the teams were greeted by clear skies.

Australia is playing its maiden match at Greenfield International Stadium, which is only hosting four Twenty20 international matches since its founding in 2017.

Following a close two-wicket victory in the opening Twenty20 International in Visakhapatnam—their most successful chase in the format—India leads the five-match series 1-0.
