Dominic Drakes, a left-handed bowler from the West Indies, has signed a short-term deal with the Birmingham Bears. This deal will last until the end of the Vitality Blast.
Drakes, whose father Vasbert played for Warwickshire in the 2000s, will replace Hasan Ali as one of Bears’ two overseas players, since Ali is leaving this weekend for international service with Pakistan. Drakes’s father Vasbert also played for Warwickshire.
Drakes, who is 25 years old, has played 12 times for his country in white-ball internationals. He also played county cricket for Yorkshire last summer.

With two games left, Birmingham is in first place in the North Group and is guaranteed a spot in the Blast quarterfinals.
