Fabrizio Romano says Chelsea are still interested in signing Arsen Zakharyan.
Zakharyan, 19, has become one of Europe’s top midfielders since last season. Since making his professional debut for Dynamo in 2020, he’s become the club’s creative outlet.
Blues offered £12.6 million for versatile midfielder Zakharyan this summer. FIFA and UEFA rules on signing Russian players caused the agreement to fall through.
Romano wrote in Caught Offside that Chelsea still wants Zakharyan. Author:
“Chelsea still wants Zakharyan. He’s one of the talents they’re watching, but they’re working on multiple deals at once. Normal. Also, the player wants to join.”
Zakharyan was queried about the link in November. Sport 24:
“I volunteered instantly. I wouldn’t rule out returning on loan, but I’d try. Maybe we can start playing immediately. I hope winter negotiations go somewhere.”
Zakharyan has 15 goals and 20 assists in 69 games with Dynamo Moscow.
Chelsea has completed three permanent deals this winter. Benoit Badiashile from Monaco, David Datro Fofana from Molde, and Andrey Santos from Vasco da Gama cost £57 million.
Fabrizio Romano believes Chelsea wants a Bundesliga forward in January.
Fabrizio Romano says Chelsea are interested in Borussia Monchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram. The Blues have initiated talks to seek a contract in January.
Thuram, 25, has been a key first-team starter for Die Fohlen since joining for £10 million from Guingamp in 2019. He has 41 goals and 26 assists in 119 matches as a center-forward or left inside-forward.
Manchester United, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, and Tottenham Hotspur all interested in the France international, whose contract expires this summer.
