Today, Novak Djokovic set another historic milestone in his career by surpassing Stefanie Graf’s record for the most weeks spent as the World No. 1 by a tennis player in either the men’s or women’s category.

When the Serbian player eclipsed Roger Federer’s record of 310 weeks as the No. 1 player in the Pepperstone ATP Rankings in March of 2021, he already owned the record for the most weeks at No. 1 in the history of the Pepperstone ATP Rankings (since 1973). Now that he has passed Graf, he is entering his 378th week at the top of the mountain in tennis.

Djokovic, who now has 6,980 points in the Pepperstone ATP Rankings, won a record-extending 10th Australian Open title last month, which allowed him to regain to the top spot in the rankings for the first time since June of last year.

Djokovic has now surpassed Graf’s all-time record with his 378th week spent atop the rankings.

This week, the 35-year-old player is competing at the Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Championships. He first ascended to No. 1 on July 4, 2011, when he was 24 years and 43 days old, and he set a personal record by remaining at the top of the Pepperstone ATP Rankings for a total of 122 consecutive weeks between July 7, 2014, and November 6, 2016.

In the annals of the Pepperstone ATP Rankings, Djokovic is one of a total of 28 players who have ever held the number one position. He also ended 2011-12, 2014-15, and both 2018 and 2021 as the year’s No. 1 player, making his total number of year-end No. 1 finishes a record seven.

Graf had a career total of 107 victories, including 22 victories in the Grand Slam tournaments. In 1987, she became the first woman to ever reach the #1 spot in the women’s rankings.
