Due to a hamstring injury, Madushanka was sidelined

Published:

Due to a hamstring injury, Dilshan Madushanka will not be able to continue in the current ODI series against Bangladesh, according to confirmation from Sri Lanka Cricket on Sunday, March 17. The last ODI of the series, which is now at 1-1, is scheduled for Monday in Chattogram.

Before exiting the field in the second ODI, the left-arm seamer bowled 6.4 overs. “Dilshan Madushanka will not further take part in the ongoing tour as the bowler will return to start rehabilitation work after suffering an injury during the 2nd ODI,” the SLC stated in a statement. “Madushanka, who left the field during the second ODI while bowling, has suffered a left hamstring injury, as confirmed by an MRI scan performed on the player.”

Although the length of the pacer’s absence is unknown, it is possible that he won’t be ready for the IPL’s opening round, which is set to start next week. Madushanka’s remarkable ODI World Cup results from the previous year, when he claimed 21 wickets in 9 games, led the Mumbai Indians to purchase him in the auction for INR 4.6 Cr.
