Ex-India Selector explains what Sanju Samson needs to do to secure his spot in the team in “IND vs. IRE: Sourav Did That With MSD”

Published:

On August 13, Sanju Samson missed yet another opportunity to prove his bat skills and earn a position in the Indian T20I team. The batsman’s disappointing and forgettable tour came to an end with his failure in the fifth and final T20I against the West Indies.

Although the right-handed batter earned his Team India debut back in 2015, he hasn’t yet cemented his place in the lineup. He has recently had many opportunities, but he hasn’t been able to take use of them. The trip has once again demonstrated that Ishan Kishan is preferred by the team management above him, and his bad performances will only make it worse for him.

On the tour, he went 5 innings, scoring 9, 51, 12, 7, and 13. Sanju Samson had the chance to shine with the bat on Sunday after missing out on the opportunity to bat in the third and fourth T20I. When he came out to bat, India were in trouble.

The wicketkeeper-batsman joined Suryakumar Yadav in the middle as the Men in Blue were in trouble at 66 for 3 in the eighth over. He had plenty of time to score large because there were still more than 12 overs in the innings. The 28-year-old, though, was only able to score 13 runs before being bowled out by Romario Shepherd.

Sanju Samson needs certain things, according to Saba Karim, to secure his position.
Former wicketkeeper and selector Saba Karim offers some advise for the Indian team management after Sanju Samson wasted yet another opportunity to solidify his place in the team. After a user noted how MS Dhoni was able to change his profession, Karim posted the suggestion on X.

“MS Dhoni never looked back after hitting 148 in his fifth game for India. He hit 183* in a short period of time, solidifying his position on the team. For India, Sanju Samson needs to have a strong performance, which is reasonable given his talent. His biggest opportunity, in my opinion, came in the third ODI. Sadly, he hasn’t performed that caliber of knock for India. We’ll undoubtedly witness a breakthrough shortly, the user said.

Karim saw the post and responded right away. As he wrote: “Agree, but why can’t he be sent up the order??,” the former cricketer demanded that the Indian team management move Sanju Samson up the batting order like Sourav Ganguly did with MS Dhoni. That MSD shot was a bullseye for Sourav.
