Has He Lost That Sting From His Repertoire?, IND vs. IRE Arshdeep Singh Concerns Raised by Saba Karim

Former Indian cricketer Saba Karim voiced his reservations regarding Arshdeep Singh’s performance. He claimed that whatever the left-arm pacer did previously couldn’t be replicated, and that he was now bowling short deliveries, which weren’t his natural length.

Since the last several series, one of the topics of conversation has been Arshdeep Singh’s bowling. The Indian pacer has shown flashes of good bowling, but he has also been giving up a lot of runs in the final overs, which has been quite costly for the team in games that matter.

He struggled in the first T20I against Ireland lately after having a hit-or-miss series against the West Indies. After a shaky start, the opposition was able to record a respectable total thanks in part to the bowler’s poor last few overs with the new ball.

After giving up 11 runs in the opening two overs, Arshdeep Singh took Curtis Campher’s wicket in the third over. But his final over, which he bowled in the 20th, cost the team 21 runs, altering the outcome of the match.

Arshdeep Singh, in Saba Karim’s opinion, isn’t able to bring the ball into the batters as well as he once did. He emphasized the need for him to generate swing by using Mitchell Starc and Shaheen Afridi as examples.

He said to Jio Cinema that Arshdeep Singh is one issue that concerns him. Against the West Indies, he played a hit-and-miss series. As a left-arm seamer, I simply believe that it’s crucial for the ball to enter the right-hander in this instance, particularly with the new ball. From what I’ve seen in the past, particularly the West Indies series, he is unable to pull that off.

“The ability to pick wickets with the new ball and bend the ball back towards the right-hander makes Shaheen Afridi or Mitchell Starc so crucial for their respective teams.

“He has somehow lost that sting in his repertoire throughout the course of the last season. You can pick up wickets with the new ball if the bowling coach works really hard with Arshdeep to produce that swing in his delivery.

He is being considered as a regular T20 bowler for India vs. Ireland. Saba Karim
Saba Arshdeep is relying on the variants and overlooking the fundamentals, Karim continued. He emphasized that the pacer needs to get better because he bowls regularly in T20.

He clarified: “He’s bowling short of a length and depending on his variation. He is not at all that long. Get it into the right-hander as it is up. He is being considered as a regular T20 bowler and has been chosen for the Asian Games.

When India plays Ireland in the second game on Sunday, August 20, Arshdeep Singh will next be in action.
