Hero Goncalo Ramos of Portugal asserts A player who is “still important” is Cristiano Ronaldo.

Published:

Even though he was left off of the starting lineup for Portugal’s match against Switzerland in the round of 16, Goncalo Ramos claims that Cristiano Ronaldo is still a “essential” member of the team.

Ramos was chosen instead of the Portugal captain for Tuesday’s game because Fernando Santos took the choice to exclude Ronaldo after he reacted with anger to being substituted during Portugal’s match against South Korea on Friday. Ronaldo was furious over being taken out of the match.

The young man, who is only 21 years old, made the most of his first appearance for his country’s national team by scoring three goals that were expertly taken. These goals included a powerful strike to get things started and a delightful dinked finish to conclude his hat trick.

Cristiano Ronaldo is still considered to be a “essential” member of the Portugal squad, according to Goncalo Ramos.

On Tuesday, Ramos started in place of Ronaldo and was responsible for three of his team’s six goals in their victory.

The final score of the match was 6-1 in favour of Portugal, with Ronaldo stepping off the substitute to play the final 17 minutes of the match in lieu of Joao Felix.

As a direct consequence of this, Portugal will play Morocco in the quarterfinals, after Morocco delivered yet another upset by eliminating Spain from the competition.

After the match, Ramos said the following in his post-match comments: “Not even in my fondest fantasies did I think I would be included in the starting Eleven for the knockout phases.”

After Ronaldo’s angry reaction to being substituted during Friday’s match against South Korea, Fernando Santos took the decision to dismiss Ronaldo from the team.

Regarding the aspirations I have for this competition, all we can do is focus on winning one match at a time. We are focusing all of our attention on Morocco right now rather than any other upcoming games.

“Cristiano Ronaldo is our captain,” the announcer said. We always anticipate the chance to play alongside him because he is the leader of the team and the captain at the same time.

“He is someone I look up to, and for many of us, he is a hero.” I look up to players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Robert Lewandowski, and Zlatan Ibrahimović. Those athletes are my role models.

The final score of the match between Portugal and Switzerland was 6-1, with Ronaldo stepping off the bench to substitute Joao Felix for the last 17 minutes of play. Portugal ended up winning the match.

When Santos was asked about Ronaldo’s role in the team, he responded by saying, “That is still something that needs to be defined.”

“I knew him since the age of 19 years old, and we have always had a really close relationship. I have known him for all of our lives.”

“This relationship only grows, Ronaldo and I do not interpret the human component of that of coach and player (in relation to) what we must do while we are playing the match,” he said. “This is how a manager and player should work.”

“He is a vital player for us to have on the squad, and I will always keep that in mind in my role,” you said.
