Cheteshwar Pujara, a star batter for India, was playing in his 100th Test when the second game of the series against Australia took place. Sunil Gavaskar had a special wish for Pujara as he entered the game.
As the 35-year-old became only the 13th player from the country to take part in 100 Test matches, India’s star batter Cheteshwar Pujara was honored by India’s batting legend Sunil Gavaskar. Sunil Gavaskar felicitated Pujara for reaching the milestone. During the second match of the current series against Australia, Pujara achieved the milestone for the first time. The batter, who has been an essential part of the Indian Test team for a significant number of years at this point, has been essential to the side’s memorable victories both at home and abroad. These victories include the side’s victories in both of the series that was played in Australia, as well as the series that was played against England in 2021.
Gavaskar gave Pujara a commemorative cap and gave an emotional speech praising the India batter as Pujara reached the milestone of playing in his 100th test match. The former captain of India lauded Pujara for “putting his body on the line” for the team and went on to say that it seemed as though he took the Indian flag with him every time he “went out to bat.”
“When we are kids growing up, whether we are playing at home, down the streets, or on maidans, we all dream of playing for India. Whether we are playing at home, down the streets, or on maidans. It’s an incredible sensation, and once you’ve had it, all you want to do is experience it again and again. To pull yourself up from difficult times, takes a lot of hard work, determination, and self-belief, and then you have to keep your attention on the task at hand in order to succeed. It’s almost as if you’re carrying the flag of India with you whenever you step up to the plate. During the ceremony, Pujara was congratulated by Gavaskar, who told him, “You’ve put your body on the line for India.” The ceremony was also attended by Pujara’s wife and father, as well as the other members of the Indian cricket team.
During the process of handing Pujara the cap, Gavaskar also extended a personal well-wish to him.
“You’ve taken the knocks, you’ve gotten up, and you’ve made the bowlers earn their wicket by making you work for it.” Each and every run you scored was a significant boost for India. You have served as an example of what can be accomplished through dedication, self-belief, and belief in one’s own dreams. Gavaskar greeted Kohli by saying, “Welcome to the 100th Test club, and I wish and pray that you become the first Indian to score a big hundred in your 100th Test and lay the foundation for yet another win in Delhi.” Kohli had just reached the milestone of playing in his 100th test.
India currently holds a 1-0 lead in the four-match Test series after claiming a convincing victory over Australia in the first match of the series, which took place in Nagpur.
