ICC World Cup 2023: Former Selector’s Advice For India’s Middle-Order Problems: Choose Tilak Varma And Suryakumar Yadav

Published:

The eagerly awaited ICC World Cup 2023 is just around the corner. Less than two months remain till the thirteenth ODI World Cup, but the Indian team is still in need of some finalization.

The middle order is Team India’s main source of worry. The club has been struggling with the middle order for a while now. When Vijay Shankar was abruptly chosen over Ambati Rayudu at the previous ODI World Cup, they encountered the same problem.

Since the famous Yuvraj Singh’s retirement from the game, Team India’s captain Rohit Sharma recently acknowledged that they have not been able to locate a dependable number four batter. Sandeep Patil, a former Indian all-rounder and selector, has offered his opinions on how Team India should line up at the World Cup as the Men in Blue work to find the proper balance.

Sandeep Patil on the World Cup lineup for Team India:

On Star Sports, a number of former Indian stars recently discussed the composition of the Indian World Cup team. The team can include Suryakumar Yadav and uncapped Tilak Varma in the middle order if Ishan Kishan can bat as Rohit Sharma’s opening partner, according to former all-rounder and head coach Ravi Shastri. Sandeep Patil also shared a similar viewpoint.

“100% [whether India should give Tilak Varma a debut]. Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav will be my companions. After considering the opponent, we can select who will be in the starting XI,” stated Sandeep Patil.

There wouldn’t be a backup wicketkeeper in the team if both Suryakumar and Varma were chosen. In response to that, Patil stated: “Since the tournament will be held at home, I don’t believe a backup keeper is necessary. I hope nothing bad happens to Ishan Kishan, but if it does, we can send Sanju Samson anywhere in an overnight time.

Since KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant are now out, Ishan Kishan is the team’s choice wicketkeeper. Rahul, though, is anticipated to play again soon and may be selected as the top wicketkeeper for the World Cup.
