Ravichandran Ashwin, an Indian spinner, spoke up about why he only gets a few Test invitations for Team India on foreign soil and claimed that he has no control over the decision.
The number one ICC Test bowler, Ravichandran Ashwin, claimed on his own YouTube channel that while both he and Ravindra Jadeja can bat, the 34-year-old’s batting approach is more effective, which is why selectors summon him more frequently.
Recently, Ravindra Jadeja and I have been the two top spinners, and thankfully or unluckily, we can both also bat. Jadeja has received the nod because of his excellent batting performance, according to Ravichandran Ashwin.
The top spinner, who was left out of the 2023 World Test Championship (WTC) Final lineup to play Australia, said he can’t criticize or blame the selectors. He further stated that he made an effort to suppress his emotions and suppress his negativity.
“I can’t point to anything, and I don’t want to try to figure out why I was let go since, once more, that’s beyond my power…Since I had a mental and physical transformation in 2018–19, I’ve made an effort not to dwell on the bad. When I’m in the dressing room, I find myself in a state of contributing, he continued.
If I have an inflated ego, Ravichandran Ashwin
Ashwin continued by saying that if his ego had been too big, he might have ended up being the greatest white elephant in the locker room, but he doesn’t want to do that because he plays to win and supports India even when he is not on the field.
“I don’t want to become the largest white elephant in the changing room if my ego is too huge. When I play, I play to win; when I do not, I support India’s victory, Ravichandran Ashwin continued.
Ravichandran Ashwin stated that he made the decision to quit worrying about things that were out of his control a very long time ago.
“I don’t think that way since it’s not my responsibility to choose the team. I made the decision to stop thinking about things that are not in my hand a long time ago. In terms of my life and my cricket, I am truly in a great place, and I make an effort to keep negativity out of my head, Ashwin continued.
India has not yet revealed its complete ICC ODI World Cup team. On October 8 at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, the host nation’s ODI World Cup campaign will get underway against Australia.
