Pakistan has selected a squad that includes all-rounder Imad Wasim and pacer Muhammad Amir for their forthcoming Twenty20 International series against New Zealand. The two had only returned from their international retirements in order to be picked for the June T20 World Cup.

Muhammad Irfan Khan and Usman Khan are the other two hitters on the squad, which is captained by Babar Azam. Following their outstanding achievements in the just ended Pakistan Super League, both players are now members of the national squad.

“Being included in the Pakistani team for the forthcoming Twenty20 International Series against New Zealand is a great honor. Being able to establish myself in a squad as strong as Pakistan is a reflection of my commitment and hard work. My current priorities are taking advantage of this chance and securing my place on the team.

Muhammad Irfan Khan stated, “I am fully committed to continuing to work diligently and proving myself worthy of the trust placed in me by the captain and selectors,” as per a Pakistan Cricket Board media release.

Senior squad manager and selection committee member Wahab Riaz stated that choosing Wasim and Amir was an easy decision.

“Considering their selection status, Haris Rauf’s injury, and Muhammad Nawaz’s current form, it was an easy decision to include Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir. Unquestionably, Amir and Imad can win games, and we have faith that they will continue to put in good performances to support the team’s goals,” he stated.
