During the fourth Ind vs. Aus test, the Indian team finally got to bat after spending an entire day and a half on the field. On day 1, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill were still not out at stumps. When the Indian openers came out to try to beat the huge score of 480, they looked great. But even though the pitch helped the batters, Rohit Sharma couldn’t turn his good start into a big score again. At the score of 35 runs, Matthew Kuhnemann got rid of him.
But even though Rohit Sharma only played for a short time, he reached an amazing personal milestone by reaching 17,000 international runs. Rohit needed 21 runs in his 438th game for India to join the exclusive club. He did this while playing for India during the first session of the fourth day of play. In the last few years, Rohit Sharma has been one of India’s best Test run scorers. Since the World Test Championship started in 2019, he has scored the most runs for India. He has scored almost 1700 runs in 22 Tests. The Indian captain has scored more than 200 runs so far in the ongoing Ind vs. Aus test series.
Rohit Sharma is the sixth player from India to reach this point. Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, and MS Dhoni all reached the mark before Rohit Sharma. In the current game between India and Australia, captain Rohit Sharma was out and Cheteshwar Pujara and Shubman Gill made a strong partnership until tea. Shubman Gill got his second test century at the same time that Pujara was out for 42 runs right before lunch.
After Shubman Gill’s well-set innings of 128 runs, Ravindra Jadeja was moved up the order. By the end of day 3 of the fourth Test between India and Australia, Virat Kohli had finally reached his first half-century after 15 innings. India has 289 runs and has lost 3 wickets so far. Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja, both batters, will start day 4 for India as the team tries to get into the finals of the World Test Championship.
