Before the game, Shubman Gill told the official announcer that they had a strong winning momentum. Says he:
“For me, staying true to my roots is crucial. I had a tremendous experience playing my maiden World Cup match versus Pakistan in a fantastic environment. We’ve won three games, so we have the proper momentum.
Shubman Gill praised skipper Rohit Sharma even further, stating that he has performed admirably for India for a considerable amount of time. Says he:
“Everyone is aware of Rohit Sharma’s aggressive style of batting and his exceptional performance for India, particularly during World Cup games. He is simply maintaining his form and playing based on instincts.
“The wicket has been good, and the ground is smaller.” We’re hoping to get some significant runs so that our bowlers have something to defend. Playing well in the middle overs is crucial. You may really take advantage of the situation and score a lot of runs if you can avoid losing too many wickets.
While chasing the 257-run total, Rohit Sharma and Gill gave India a great start to the game. In the pair, Rohit Sharma was the more aggressive partner, letting Gill play to his strengths. They managed to put together 88 runs prior to Rohit Sharma being removed.
