After giving Australia a humiliating defeat in Nagpur, India ascended to the top of the ICC Test rankings to claim their position.

After India’s victory over Australia in the first Test match of their series, which took place in Nagpur, India climbed to the top of the most recent rankings published by the ICC. As a result of the dominant victory, Rohit Sharma and the rest of his team currently have 115 points, which is 4 points more than the Australian team in second place. England is currently in the third spot with 106 points, but they will have the opportunity to improve their standing when they face New Zealand in the Test series beginning on February 16. The victory also meant that the Indian spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja improved their rankings significantly with impressive spells on a pitch that assisted their bowling. This was made possible by the fact that the pitch was favorable to their bowling.

The Indian cricket team currently holds the number one spot in the rankings across all three of the sport’s formats.

In the rankings of bowlers, Ashwin is getting closer and closer to taking the number one spot, while Jadeja is climbing higher and higher in the rankings. The Australian batsmen have held in check thanks to the combined efforts of the two spinners, who took 15 wickets.

After taking 3/42 in the first innings of the match, Ashwin improved his performance in the second by taking 5/37. Pat Cummins, the skipper of Australia’s team, is currently in first place in the rankings; however, Ashwin is only 21 rating points behind him.

According to the website of the International Cricket Council (ICC), the up-and-coming spinner for the West Indies, Gudakesh Motie, made a name for himself by taking 19 wickets in two tests played against Zimbabwe. He is now ranked 46th after only having played three tests. After scoring a magnificent century for India against Australia in Nagpur, right-handed batsman Rohit Sharma moved up from the tenth position to the eighth position on the rankings. Sharma is the captain of India’s cricket team.
