IPL 2023: MUMBAI INDIANS’ FIRST CHOICE OF 4 OVERSEAS PLAYERS IN THE OPENING MATCH AGAINST RCB

Published:

The Mumbai Indians have won the IPL trophy 5 times, making them the most successful team in the league. But in the two seasons before that, they didn’t do much because the team didn’t make the playoffs. The Rohit Sharma-led team lost 10 of their 14 games, which put them at number 10 in the IPL 2022 points table. In IPL 2023, Mumbai Indians will definitely try to change their luck.

In the next IPL season, Mumbai Indians will try to do well by making good use of their four foreign players. In order to pick the best four overseas players, they will have to look at all the possible ways to put things together. Due to an injury, Jhye Richardson won’t be able to play in the IPL in 2023. Tristan Stubbs will also miss the first few games because he will be playing for South Africa in the ODI series against the Netherlands.

Also, Jasprit Bumrah, an Indian player, won’t play for MI in the IPL 2023. Since September of last year, Bumrah hasn’t played abroad. The fact that Jasprit Bumrah won’t be there will definitely change how Mumbai Indians try to play.

Here are the four international players Mumbai Indians might start with against RCB.

1. Cameron Green

For a huge sum of INR 17.50 Crore, Mumbai Indians hired Australian all-rounder Cameron Green. Both with the bat and the ball, Green is an important part of the Australian test team. He has also played a few times for Australia in short-form games.

In IPL 2023, Mumbai Indians will want Cameron Green to do the same thing. Rohit Sharma could use him as a pinch hitter who can help their middle order and also bowl a few important overs.

2. Jofra Archer

Before he got hurt in March 2021, Jofra Archer was one of the most dangerous pacers in the world. Since then, he hasn’t played much cricket, but he will try to make a difference in the league that pays a lot of money.

Since Jasprit Bumrah and Jhye Richardson won’t be there, Jofra Archer will be in charge of bowling for the Mumbai Indians. The Mumbai Indians will want him to make important breakthroughs while staying healthy all season.

3. Tim David

The great batter did not do well at all in the IPL 2022. He only scored 187 runs in 9 innings. But in T20Is, he has done pretty well for Australia and has a strike rate of 159.11.

Tim David is a powerful finisher, and he can also bowl a few overs of off-spin, which will help Mumbai since they don’t have a lot of spin bowlers in their team. He played some quality knocks in the SA20 and the PSL as well.

4. Jason Behrendorff

The Australian left-arm pacer provides the much-needed variety to MI’s bowling lineup. If Jasprit Bumrah wasn’t there, Behrendorff might often get to throw the new ball. With his deadly swing bowling, Jason Behrendorff can destroy any batting lineup. He will certainly like the conditions at the Wankhede Stadium during IPL 2023.
