“It happened throughout the series”—Saba Karim defends Virat Kohli’s New Zealand failings

Former India selector Saba Karim supported Virat Kohli’s ODI series losses against New Zealand.

The veteran suggested openers set up middle-order hitters to assault. Karim noted that Kohli batted aggressively but lost three times. He stated that fearlessness can alter a batter’s strategy.

Saba Karim, India News:

We must assess the team’s status. You score quickly when the squad starts well. Throughout the series, it influences your planning.
In three ODIs, Virat Kohli scored 55 runs, including 36 off 27 balls in the third. In this month’s three-ODI series against Sri Lanka, the 34-year-old struck two centuries.
“This is not the first time”—Saba Karim on Suryakumar Yadav’s ODI disaster.
Saba Karim noted that Suryakumar Yadav failed to secure an ODI spot again. He believes the T20I expert will take longer to acclimatise to 50-over cricket.

Commentator-cricketer:

It happened before. When he played ODIs, he underperformed. He’s still important. Some players require adjustment time. He should consult Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid to clarify.”
Last three ODIs, Yadav scored 14, 31, and 4. He has 433 runs in 20 ODIs at 28.87.
SKY’s last T20I against Sri Lanka yielded 112*. In Friday’s T20I series against New Zealand in Ranchi, he’ll try to extend his hot streak (January 27).
