Jasprit Bumrah is planning to compete in practise games while ‘bowling with full intensity’

According to a BCCI medical update, Jasprit Bumrah is now “bowling with full intensity in the nets,” which suggests that his comeback to play could be imminent. After having back surgery in New Zealand in March of this year, Bumrah, whose last game of competitive cricket was in September 2022, has been receiving rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna, a second fast bowler recovering from a stress fracture, are both said to be bowling at full intensity, according to a BCCI press statement.

“The NCA will arrange for the couple to play some practise games. The medical team for the BCCI is happy with their development and will reach a judgement after evaluating them following the practise games.

According to ESPNcricinfo, the NCA has scheduled practise matches so that Bumrah can play under a physio’s supervision rather than requiring him to participate in the 50-over inter-zonal Deodhar Trophy. This shows that the NCA is aware of Bumrah’s workload. He might be in the running for the three-match T20I series in Ireland, which is set to take place from 18 to 23 August if he performs well in the practise matches.

India’s next match will take place at the Asia Cup from August 30 to September 17 after the Ireland tour. They will host Australia for three One-Day Internationals in late September, just before the ODI World Cup begins on October 5.

KL Rahul (thigh) and Shreyas Iyer (lower back) are two other batters who are improving as they recover from their injuries. The press announcement stated that they had resumed hitting in the nets and were presently engaged in strength and conditioning exercises. The BCCI Medical Team is pleased with their development and will step up their effort in the upcoming days in terms of both skills and strength and fitness.

After surviving a catastrophic automobile accident in December, Rishabh Pant underwent knee ligament surgery. He is now making “significant progress” and has started both keeping wicket and batting in the nets. He is currently pursuing a fitness regimen that was created just for him and consists of running, flexibility, and weight training.
