In the opening Twenty20 International of the three-match series against the Paul Stirling-led Ireland National Cricket Team at the Malahide in Dublin on Friday, August 18, the 29-year-old bowler for the India National Cricket Team triumphantly made his comeback to international cricket.
Bumrah is making his long-awaited return to competitive cricket after a 327-day absence. Bumrah played in September 2022 before being sidelined with a major back injury that need surgery to make him match-fit for today’s game against Ireland.
Bumrah, who is captaining India in the T20Is against Ireland, chose to bowl first after winning the toss. He made the decision to bowl his side’s opening over, and on the first pitch, he was hit for a four.
In the second ball, he made a dramatic comeback and defeated Andy Balbirnie, then celebrated with his signature arms out. On the fifth delivery of the over, he dismissed the wicketkeeper-batter Lorcan Tucker for a duck after bowling two dots. In the final overs, he only conceded 4 runs.

Irfan Pathan, a former all-rounder for India, took to the X to congratulate Bumrah on his first wicket of the return game. Pathan believed Bumrah would avoid getting hurt.
