Royal Challengers Bangalore has replaced David Willey with Kedar Jadhav for the rest of the Indian Premier League. This was confirmed by BCCI on Monday. The 38-year-old was hired for INR 1 Crore because the left-arm seamer couldn’t play because he hurt his foot in the last game.
Even though he made his debut in 2010, Jadhav hasn’t made much of an effect in the tournament. He has only scored 1196 runs at a strike rate of 123.17. He has played in 93 IPL games for the Delhi Capitals, Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chennai Super Kings, and Sunrisers Hyderabad. He has played in 17 IPL games for RCB in 2016 and 2017. His best year in the league was 2017, when he scored 267 runs at a strike rate of 143.54.
RCB is currently in sixth place on the points table. They have won four of their eight games so far. Tonight, they will play their next game against Lucknow Super Giants. Even though Jadhav is replacing a bowling all-rounder who has played 4 games for RCB this season, he could play an important part in the middle order, which has a lot of new players and isn’t doing well.
Even though he has never bowled in IPL, he is also good at off-spin bowling (which he has done in international cricket) and taking wickets (which he has done in IPL before).
