Many fans and veteran cricketers were shocked when India dropped Kuldeep Yadav for the second Test against Bangladesh because of the grassy surface. Despite taking eight wickets in the first Test, the wrist-spinner was benched.
Kapil Pandey, Kuldeep’s coach, couldn’t believe he was left out after contributing with bat and ball.
Pandey told Sportskeeda how he felt when Kuldeep Yadav was dropped. He also praised Kuldeep’s maturity after being dropped for the second Test. said
“Kuldeep’s patience has grown. When he didn’t get chances, I worried for this kid. Two ODI hattricks, one for India A, and one in the U19 World Cup. When he was dropped in the second Test, I couldn’t console him because I was crying. The way he told me to be patient and have trust shows how mature he is.”
Moreover,
“He’s learned to focus on the process and not worry about other factors. His patience will help him make a successful return, I’m sure.”Kuldeep Yadav told his coach, “Nothing to say, just do it”
How Kuldeep Yadav handled his drop showed his maturity. Any Player of the Match could have been disappointed to be dropped.
Kuldeep knows he was benched for team combination and promises to work better. Coach:
“I was glad he could exhibit his all-round skills by scoring 40 runs. When he was dropped for the next Test, I felt horrible since I didn’t know what he was missing. He should’ve turned 40 into 100. Kuldeep said: “Nope, sir, isse bhi accha karunga. (No problem sir, I’ll do better next time.)” He’ll hopefully receive more chances.”
Kuldeep Yadav hopes to play most Border-Gavaskar Trophy Tests at home in 2023.
