Shubman Gill played his first game for India during their tour of Australia in 2020. He had a hard time making the team. Until recently, the young Indian batter wasn’t thought of as a player who could play in all three formats. But then things started to go his way, and runs started coming in all forms. Even in the IPL, he played like he was on fire. Matthew Hayden, a previous player, is now a fan of his skills. Shubman Gill scored another fifty, which helped Gujarat Titans win their third game of the season.
Matthew Hayden told Star Sports that Shubman Gill has a long future ahead of him and will be one of the best players in the world in the years to come. Hayden was impressed with Gill’s knock. In order to get more runs, Gujarat Titans needed someone to take charge and bat for a long time. Shubman Gill did just that against a good bowling attack from Punjab Kings.
He’s (Shubman Gill) going to dominate world cricket for the next decade: Matthew Hayden
“Some of the shots that he played were pleasing to the eyes. He’s such a class player and he’s going to dominate world cricket for the next decade or so. From GT’s point of view, it was extremely important that Gill stayed on till the end, especially after the dismissal of captain Hardik Pandya with the team still 48 runs away from victory in 34 balls,” Matthew Hayden added.
Shubman Gill has played 15 tests for India so far and has scored 890 runs. There were 1311 runs scored in 24 ODIs and 6 T20i games. After scoring a hundred in his first T20I in February, Shubman Gill became the youngest player to do so in all three forms. During the Border-Gavaskar cup, Gill replaced KL Rahul, who wasn’t playing well, and showed once again that he was a great addition to the team. When we talk about Gujarat Titans, the team is doing well as a whole. They will want to win the next game against Rajasthan Royals so that they can get back to the top of the points table.
