Overseas players, except Sri Lankans and Bangladeshis, expected for full IPL 2023

Published:

The 2023 IPL will feature virtually entirely overseas players. With a specific window in the ICC’s Future Tours Programmed for 2023-27, there are few international clashes, ensuring players’ availability.

The BCCI has informed all 10 franchises on overseas player availability. Sri Lanka and Bangladesh players won’t play the entire competition, according to Cricbuzz.
The BCCI email said:

“Availability. Players for the ODI series against Afghanistan will be available March 30. Sheffield Shield finalist players available March 28.”

England players should be available throughout the competition. Starting June 1, the team’s home season includes the Ashes series.

Ben Stokes’ side will open their home season against Ireland before playing Australia in a five-match Test series starting June 16.

Bangladesh players can play in the IPL from April 8 to May 1, after which they’ll leave for the Ireland series. In May 2022, they’ll play three ODIs and four T20Is in Bangladesh.

Sri Lankan athletes would miss the tournament’s first matches because of the mail. They’ll join franchise camps on April 8, with competition starting March 31 or April 1.

West Indies, New Zealand, and South Africa players should have no problems during the event.

December 23 is the IPL 2023 mini-auction

The mini-auction is the first stage to IPL 2023, which introduces the Impact Player rule and home-and-away format.

Franchises filed lists of retained and released players last month and will compete at auction to overhaul their squads.

Friday, December 23 is the IPL 2023 mini-auction in Kochi.
