Pakistan lost two WTC points in the Perth Test due to an over-rate offense

Due to their slow over rate in the first Test series matchup between Australia and Pakistan in Perth, Pakistan has been deducted two points on the World Test Championship (WTC) standings. After accounting for time allowances, they were declared to be two overs short of the mark.

Pakistan dropped to No. 2 in the WTC rankings following their crushing defeat by 360 runs in the Perth Test, and following the punishment, their points percentage dropped from 66.67 to 61.11.

In addition, match referee Javagal Srinath punished Pakistan 10% of their match fee. The accusation was made by Test umpires Joel Wilson, Richard Illingworth, Michael Gough, and Donovan Koch, the fourth umpire. There was no official hearing because Pakistani captain Shan Masood accepted the offense and the punishment.

As per the minimum over-rate offenses outlined in Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, players who fail to bowl in the allocated time during an over will be fined five percent of their match fee.

Additionally, a side loses one point for each over that is short according to Article 16.11.2 of the ICC World Test Championship playing regulations. As a result, Pakistan’s total points have been reduced by two WTC points.

Prior to the Boxing Day Test at the MCG, Pakistan and Victoria XI will play a two-day practice match.
