Pat Cummins has decided to forego participation in the Indian Premier League 2023 in order to concentrate on international cricket.

Pat Cummins will skip the 2023 IPL (IPL). Cummins was selected 50-over captain after Aaron Finch’s retirement and wants to focus on the Ashes before the cash-rich league.

After a disappointing T20 World Cup 2022, the pacer’s squad spot and T20 credentials were questioned. He took three wickets in four matches at 8.25 economy as the defending champions were eliminated in the Super 12 stage.

Australians have a punishing schedule. They will play England in a three-match ODI series this month, Pakistan in December, and South Africa in December.

In early 2023, they will tour India, then play the Ashes and ODI World Cup. Cummins is the captain of both formats and will play a key role in overseas initiatives.

Cummins announced his decision on social media: “I’ll miss next year’s IPL. Tests and ODIs fill the next 12 months, therefore the international schedule will rest before the Ashes and World Cup.”

“Next, @KKRiders’ understanding is highly appreciated. I hope to rejoin this squad as soon as possible.”

Mitchell Starc, like Cummins, will not play in the IPL. He last played for RCB in 2015.

Lockie Ferguson will replace Pat Cummins for KKR.

Lockie Ferguson and Rahmanullah Gurbaz joined the two-time IPL champions on Sunday, November 13. (GT).

In Cummins’ absence, the New Zealand pacer may be their top choice.

KKR also added Shardul Thakur from DC. Rishabh Pant’s side gains Aman Khan.
