Former doubles World No. 1 Rennae Stubbs predicts Novak Djokovic will retire with 28 Grand Slam titles.
The Serbian started 2023 with a record-setting 10th Australian Open championship. He returned to the top of the ATP rankings and equalled Rafael Nadal’s 22 Majors.
With the Spaniard injured and Djokovic in top condition, the World No. 1 will be the favourite at the next Grand Slams, starting with the French Open in May.
On the latest episode of The Rennae Stubbs Tennis Podcast, 51-year-old Stubbs discussed how many Majors Djokovic may win.
“Novak [Djokovic] will probably be 28 when he retires. He can win five more Grand Slams before retiring. He’ll be 27 “said. “He’s always a favourite, especially in hardcourt Grand Slams and Wimbledon. He can win a few more Wimbledon titles “said.
Stubbs recognised that younger players like Carlos Alcaraz and Holger Rune would challenge him, but she believes he has the edge in best-of-five matchups.
“I know it’s challenging once kids like Alcaraz, Rune, and others start believing in themselves over five sets. Alcaraz did win the US Open last year “said.

Dominic Thiem recently argued that the GOAT debate should prioritise Grand Slam victories.
He told Punto de Break:
“The Grand Slams, tennis’s four biggest tournaments, should be the best of all time’s defining criteria. It’s not the same. The most Grand Slams will make the GOAT.”
