Saba Karim: “No need to pick them now, can be considered if they do well in the IPL.”

Published:

Saba Karim thinks Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli shouldn’t be in India’s T20I squad.

Sharma and Kohli might return to the T20I team if they do well in the IPL (IPL). Dinesh Karthik did the same in the previous edition with his batting.

He said this on India News Sports on January 8. Karim:

“Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma might have great IPL seasons. If so, selectors can’t look past them. Dinesh Karthik’s case occured last year. I don’t think they should be picked now. Yes, if they perform well in IPL.”

Sharma and Kohli weren’t in India’s T20I team against Sri Lanka. Kohli may have been resting as Sharma was healing from a thumb injury.

The BCCI didn’t say why the two stars weren’t on the squad. The two veterans will play three ODIs against Sri Lanka.

Reetinder Sodhi: “Wouldn’t be appropriate to state they’ve failed badly”
Reetinder Sodhi said it wouldn’t be fair to drop Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma from the T20I team.

He said Kohli and Sharma have played well recently. Sodhi said it’s important to mix new and old players.

42-year-old: “Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli haven’t done badly. Kohli is hot. Rohit has done well in parts, but not consistently. They haven’t failed badly. Ishan Kishan and Rahul Tripathi are outstanding batters, but experience is key.”

Rohit Sharma will lead India against Sri Lanka in ODIs. Tuesday, January 10 is the first match in Guwahati.
