Former India opener Gautam Gambhir and former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi have a well-known rivalry both on and off the cricket field.
Although their heated Twitter exchanges have repeatedly made headlines, their dispute actually started in 2007 during an ODI game between India and Pakistan.
An unexpected turn of events saw the two former cricketers embrace and act amicably toward one another recently at the Legends League Cricket (LLC) match in Doha, Qatar.
Shahid Afridi finally talked about his friendship with Gambhir after acknowledging their infamous rivalry.
“We are both ambassadors of our respective countries. If you live in the past, you won’t be able to live. We are enjoying in our present. He is leading his team and is in good form, he is playing beautifully and it is fun watching him bat. I have spent two to three days with him and it has been amazing,” Afridi said.
Afridi added that he hoped to see more well-known figures from Pakistan and India take part in LLC in the future.
“Be it Sachin Tendulkar or MS Dhoni, from Pakistan, Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis. These are big names and people want to see them,” he added.
