Hashmatullah Shahidi, the captain of Afghanistan, said on Friday that they are sure they will win their first ODI series against Bangladesh after their win in the first game of the series at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
Bangladesh will try to tie up the series after the guests won the first game by 17 runs using the D/L method. They did this by bowling well and batting well, depending on what was needed at the time, during the rain-interrupted game.
“Of course, yes. Tomorrow is a good chance and a big chance for us to go up 2-0. As I said, the mood is good. I know they will come at us hard tomorrow, but we are ready for anything. “Tomorrow, we will try our hardest to do our best and win the series,” he said.
“Playing in Bangladesh against Bangladesh is not easy. But since we won the first game, everyone is feeling good and looking forward to the rest of the series. Inshallah, we’ll do our best to win the series,” he said, adding that the fact that Tamim Iqbal can’t play in the rest of the games because he retired after the first game will also help them.
Tamim changed his mind about retiring a day after he said he would, but he won’t be around for the rest of the game.
“Yeah, for sure. He was one of Bangladesh’s best players. He has also done well in the past, and he is a more experienced guy who has been captain in this style for a long time. So it will help us in a good way. He said, “We’re looking forward to the game tomorrow and will do our best.”
Shahidi said that he is not too worried about the track because it played very differently in the first game of the series than it usually does in the port city, where it is easy to score runs.
“Both teams play wicket the same way. The field will be the same for both teams. In the end, you have to be a good cricket player. “The game will go the way of every team that plays good cricket,” he said.
“We don’t think about these things too much. We can’t change it. What we can do is play good cricket, so that’s what we’ll do tomorrow,” he said.
“The pitch is that you can’t know what will happen with that a day in advance. You can get thoughts from it, sure. If you see the pitch, you know something about it, but not everything. We did very well in our last game, and now we will find out what our team needs. I can’t say who is playing and who isn’t,” he said, adding that he expects Fazalhaq Farooqi to be able to help in the second game, even though cramps kept him from doing so in the first.
“I think he got cramps because it was so hot. He is good, and God willing, we will catch him today,” he said.
