SHREYAS IYER RETURNS TO NCA AFTER DELAYING SURGERY

Shreyas Iyer: Batsman Shreyas Iyer went to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to get treatment for his wounds. He has decided not to have back surgery yet so that he can play in the ICC World Test Championship Final in June. An article on Cricadda says that Iyer will get a shot on Thursday. The NCA team will decide how long the batsman needs to stay at the academy after they have carefully looked at his health.

“He has met the specialist and the NCA officials. All are on the same page that the operation can be deferred. He will follow the experts’ advice.” – Said Shreyas Iyer

In February, the Australians came to Nagpur for the first Test match, but Iyer was not there. Because of back problems, he missed the home ODI series against New Zealand in January. Iyer played in the second and third Tests of the Australia series, which took place in Delhi and Indore. In four innings, they were only able to score 42 runs. His injury hurt him again in the fourth and last Test. And he was not able to bat when India’s turn came around in Ahmedabad.

Iyer was reportedly told to have surgery by a doctor in Mumbai, and the surgery was set to take place either in India or the UK. Earlier reports said that this was done under the direction of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). After surgery and healing, it was thought that Shreyas Iyer would be out for five to six months. Because of this, Iyer would have had to miss both the Indian Premier League this year and the World Tennis Championship Final against Australia at the Oval in London (IPL).

People would have also questioned whether he could play in the ICC World Cup. Iyer is no longer just trying to make the WTC Final team. The Kolkata Knight Riders also want him to play in the IPL someday.
