Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza made his IPL debut on Friday’s auction. Raza described his auction nerves.
The Zimbabwean cricketer will be one of the few in the IPL after the Punjab Kings signed him for INR 50 lakhs. The 36-year-all-round old’s talents helped him rise in the 2022 T20 World Cup.
Raza’s internet disconnected during his bidding in Kathmandu, so he was confused by all the happy texts when it came back on. ESPN Cricinfo:

Adding,
“Before the auction, I was emotional. Back at the motel. A corruption meeting followed. When it was my turn at the IPL auction, I moved rooms and lost internet.”
All-rounder spinner continued,
“While it was reconnecting, my pals congratulated me. “What? I can’t see it.” Are you joking? Check the auction, they urged. I said I’d check, but I haven’t. When I reconnected, I’d left. I missed the bid.”
The Pakistan-born cricketer played key roles in Zimbabwe’s ODI and T20I series wins over Bangladesh. After his century against India, Zimbabwe beat Australia at home.
The right-handed hitter helped Zimbabwe overcome Pakistan in the T20 World Cup.

Raza said his mother was crucial to his success, and he dedicates all his prizes to her. said

His place in the Punjab Kings lineup is unknown. Raza may not start due to the Kings’ other overseas players.
