Steve Smith and Joe Root have the most hundreds in Test cricket, outperformed Virat Kohli.

Joe Root, Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, and Kane Williamson are the four best batters in the history of the Test format, and they form what is termed as the “Fab Four.”

With 29 hundreds in Test cricket, Australia’s Steve Smith now holds the record for the most hundreds scored by any member of the “Fab Four.”

The name “Fabulous Four,” which has been simplified to “Fab Four,” was popularized by cricket experts to refer to the top four Test batters of the modern era. These hitters are Virat Kohli of India, Joe Root of England, Steve Smith of New Zealand, and Kane Williamson of New Zealand.

While Smith, who is 33 years old and has played in just 88 Test matches so far, has reached the milestone of 29 tons, Root, who made his debut in 2012, has done it in 125 Test matches.

The most recent of Root’s centuries came at Edgbaston, in a match against India, where he led England to a stunning victory. Joe Root’s score of 142 not out in tests was his 11th century since 2021, and his fifth century in 2022.

While everything was going on, Smith equaled Root’s performance by smashing an unbeaten 145-run innings against Sri Lanka off of 272 balls during the second test match that took place at Galle International Stadium in July.

The former England captain is also the first batter from the so-called “Fab Four” to pass the 10,000-run mark in Test cricket. He achieved this feat during his time playing for England.

He achieved the feat in the first Test match that took place at Lord’s in 2022 against New Zealand.

Since the year 2021, Root’s performance in test cricket has been outstanding. In addition to his 11 test centuries, Root has collected 2,777 runs and six half-tons.

The Englishman has been in a league of his own during this time period, and no other member of the legendary Fab Four group has been able to compete with him.

On the other side, Virat Kohli has reached the century mark in 27 of the red-ball cricket matches he has played in thus far during his career. To begin, Kohli reached his 27th Test century against Bangladesh at Kolkata in 2019. This occurred in 2019.

Since that time, the former captain of India has not been able to lead his team to a score in a test match that is in the triple digits.

He has 8,074 runs scored in 102 innings, which places him in second place among the ‘Fab Four’ in terms of most productive batting average.

However, since the year 2021, the 33-year-old player has had a difficult time with the bat, as he has only scored 756 runs in a total of 15 games.

Earlier, Australia’s Steve Smith equaled Virat Kohli’s record for hundreds with a 226-ball 131 that aided his team to secure a draw against India in Sydney in 2021. Smith’s century was important in the draw.

Since the year 2021, Smith has scored a total of 389 runs in only six innings. However, Steve Smith’s batting average is what separates him from the other batters who are considered to be part of the “Fab Four.”

The former captain of Australia holds the record for the most consistent hitter among the other batsmen with an average of 60.45 and 8,161 runs scored throughout 87 tests.

Kane Williamson, the captain of New Zealand, has scored a hundred run in each of the 24 tests he has played in. Williamson, who is known as one of the most patient hitters of the game, has driven in 491 runs in x innings since the year 2021.
