England defeated India by ten wickets in the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022. Thursday, November 10, saw the match at Adelaide Oval.

When asked to bat first, Rohit Sharma’s team stumbled before Hardik Pandya’s brilliant assault.

Jos Buttler and Alex Hales responded by smashing the target. The partnership destroyed every bowler and reached the goal with four overs to qualify for the T20 World Cup final in Melbourne against Pakistan.

The lopsided India-England match smashed many records. First, Virat Kohli overtook Sachin Tendulkar as India’s ICC tournament run-getter with his 50. Kohli has 2757 ICC runs, surpassing Tendulkar’s 2719.

Virat Kohli became the first T20 international player to score 4000 runs. On Thursday, the modern maestro hit a spectacular half-century in 42 runs.

India’s batsman, Hardik Pandya, outshone Kohli’s fifty. During his 63 from 33, the Indian all-rounder performed brilliantly.

Pandya’s 63 on Thursday was the best T20 World Cup total by an Indian batting at No. 5 or below. Yuvraj Singh’s 58 off 16 against England in the 2007 T20 World Cup was the previous best.

With their dominant attitude, Jos Buttler and Alex Hales chased 169 easily. England became the first and only team to win a semi-final or final of an ICC event by ten wickets with their thrashing of India.

England also became the first team to win and lose a T20I by ten wickets in one year.
