Lionel Messi will not return to Barcelona after his PSG stint, according to Argentine journalist Gaston Edul.
Messi joined Paris Saint-Germain for free in the summer of 2021. La Pulga was distraught at his goodbye press conference after his unceremonious departure from his boyhood club.
The Barcelona board refused to offer the Argentine talisman a new deal, forcing his exit to PSG.
Edul claims Messi and Blaugrana president Joan Laporta are at odds. As long as Laporta runs Barcelona, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner won’t return to Spain.
“Messi and Laporta don’t get along. Messi loves Barcelona, but the board makes the difference. The relationship ended poorly, “said TyC Sports.
Rodolfo Cingolani wrote:
“The relationship is bad, and Messi will not return to Barcelona.”
Gaston Edul added:
“You’re right.”
Lionel Messi’s PSG contract expires this summer, but reports say he’ll stay. The club can extend his contract by a year.
Lionel Messi’s PSG performance since leaving Barcelona
Lionel Messi won multiple team and individual awards with Barcelona before leaving to Paris. He made 778 Blaugrana matches, scoring 672 goals and assisting 303.
After a disappointing first season with PSG, he has blossomed in the second. He has scored 24 goals and assisted 29 in 55 games for the French giants.
