Three Indian batters topped the century mark with a six-run contribution each

Regardless the format, a double hundred is impressive. In ODIs, when Indian batsmen dominate, it is rarer than in Tests.

India batsmen have scored most ODI double hundreds. Overseas batsmen have scored three of the 10 ODI scores over 200.
Batters approach historic figures cautiously since missing a milestone is unpleasant. However, some brave batters scored a maximum to reach 200 runs.

Virender Sehwag’s six off Saqlain Mushtaq in the Multan Test to reach 300 runs against Pakistan is legend. Back then, clearing the rope was unthinkable.
Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, and Ishan Kishan, the “new breed,” started their international careers with sixes. Since they no longer fear failure, they aim for big achievements.

Three Indian players hit 200 runs with sixes.

#1 Rohit (209 India vs Australia; Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore)
The finale of a historic India-Australia ODI series at Chinnawamy Stadium was tied at 2-2. Rohit Sharma, loving his opening role, struck the first of his three ODI double hundreds.

Rohit took advantage of a full stadium to blast Clint McKay’s slot delivery over covers for a six. The spectacular maximum completed his double century off 156 deliveries.

India failed to control James Faulkner, who scored Australia’s fastest ODI hundred.

India won the match and the five-match series 3-2, with Rohit winning Player of the Match and Player of the Series for his batting.

Rohit (212 India vs South Africa; JSCA Stadium, Ranchi)
A three-match home series against South Africa marked Rohit Sharma’s Test opener debut. After making century in both innings of the first Test in Vishakapatnam, he settled well at the top.

After a quiet second Test, Sharma scored 212 in Ranchi. He was stranded on 199 following the opening session on Day 2.

He reached 100 with a six and 200 with a pull shot off Lungi Ngidi on Virender Sehwag’s birthday.

In the three-match series, he revived his Test career as an opener.

Shubman Gill (208 India vs Sri Lanka; Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium; Hyderabad)

Shubman Gill became the youngest and newest ODI double-centurion. On January 18, the 23-year-old scored 208 runs off 149 deliveries in the series opener against New Zealand.

His record innings was unusual because he smacked a six at 50, another at 93, and another at 150.
He reached 200 runs after being unbeaten on 182 runs. He reached the milestone with three sixes off Lockie Ferguson.

A Glenn Phillips catch ended his innings. However, his triple sixes to complete his double century may never be repeated.
