Deccan Gladiators defeated New York Strikers 96 for 6 (Waseem 26, Zahoor 2-12, Wood 1-17) by a margin of 22 runs with 118 for 8 (Kohler-Cadmore 68*, Karunaratne 3-25, Jawadullah 1-11).

In the inaugural match of the Abu Dhabi T10, Tom Kohler-Cadmore struck an unbeaten 68 off 33 deliveries to help Deccan Gladiators defeat New York Strikers by 22 runs. In the ten overs allocated, Gladiators scored 118 runs, with Kohler-Cadmore hitting six sixes and four fours while saving one end of the wicket. Andre Russell’s 17 was the next-highest score for a Gladiators batter.

Despite introducing Gladiators, Strikers were unable to contain Chamika Karunaratne, who finished with 3 for 25 for the team, including two consecutive wickets in the seventh over.

The early loss of openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Kusal Perera by the beginning of the third over put the strikers early in their pursuit. After a quick 33-run partnership between Muhammad Waseem and Asif Ali, Luke Wood struck in the fifth over, dismissing Waseem for 26 from 13 balls. From that point on, the strikers were repeatedly dismissed, and were eventually limited to 96 runs, with Zahoor Khan ending with 2 for 12 in his two overs.
