Virat Kohli’s focus would be on helping India win the World Cup in 2023 rather than setting records, according to Robin Uthappa

According to a recent statement made by former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa, star batter Virat Kohli never considers setting new records or reaching personal goals. According to Robin Uthappa, Virat Kohli’s current top priorities include winning the forthcoming Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup.

One of the best batters India has ever produced in modern cricket is Virat Kohli. The 34-year-old’s spectacular 15-year international career saw him reach several milestones. The team’s ability to overcome its ten-year ICC Trophy drought will depend heavily on the performance of the right-handed batsman.

According to Robin Uthappa, Virat Kohli doesn’t really care about setting records.

Robin Uthappa claimed in an interview with Times of India that Virat Kohli is never fixated on his personal milestones of breaking records.

“Virat (Kohli) is no longer particularly interested in setting records. We are obsessed with it as humans and as fans,” Uthappa told The Times Of India.

“He would far rather have India win matches than care about those hundreds. Virat will concentrate on leading India to victories in the World Cup and Asia Cup. He continued, “He doesn’t really care about the documents.

In order to match Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar’s (49) record for the most ODI centuries, Virat needs to score three more hundreds. The World Cup is scheduled to be held at home between October and November, and Kohli is anticipated to reach this milestone within that time.

His One and Only Goal Is Winning Games, Says Robin Uthappa
The former Indian opener stressed that Virat Kohli is more focused on winning the World Cup than breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s record.

It doesn’t matter if he (Virat) breaks Sachin’s ODI centuries record during the Asia Cup, World Cup, or at any other point in his career because his only goal is to help India win games, not to score big runs.

The Delhi-born cricketer led India throughout the 2019 ODI World Cup. In the group stage matches, they played cricket with dominance, however they lost in the semifinals. In a knockout game, the Men in Blue suffered a sad loss to New Zealand.
