Walsh’s contract as head coach of the WI women’s team will not be renewed.

Cricket West Indies decided not to renew the contract of Courtney Walsh, who was the head coach of the West Indies Women’s team. CWI also did not renew the contracts of assistant coaches Robert Samuels and Corey Collymore after they were looked at.

Walsh took over for Gus Logie in October 2020. In 2021, the West Indies won both their home and away series against Pakistan. He also led the team to the semifinals of the 50-over World Cup in 2022.

West Indies, on the other hand, only won seven out of 24 T20Is and 11 out of 32 ODIs while Walsh was in charge. They also didn’t make it to the semifinals of the 2023 T20 World Cup, which was held earlier in the year. The team only won two of its four games and came in third in Group B, behind England and India.

“We are very grateful for the contribution of Courtney and his technical team over the past two and a half years and we wish them all the best going forward,” said Jimmy Adams, CWI director of cricket.

“CWI remains committed to our international women’s programme and will now be focusing on recruiting a new Head Coach and technical support team. An interim technical support team will be put in place during the recruitment period.”
