The UP Warriorz have recruited the Indian batter Shivali Shinde. A training-related injury to all-rounder Laxmi Yadav vacated the position. The Warriorz have played two games in the WPL thus far, with one victory and one loss. Shivali (26) has joined the team already. She is a native of Kolhapur, Maharashtra, and has represented the state team in addition to the India-A squad in the Senior Women’s T20 Challenge Trophy.

“Playing in the WPL is a moment of immense pride for me. And my family is delighted that I have received this opportunity. I am looking forward to this stint and hope to pick up the tricks of the trade from some of the best cricketers in the business. Experiencing the electric atmosphere in the stadiums is something I am definitely looking forward to and I hope to be able to contribute in a substantial manner for the UP Warriorz,” Shivali said.

On March 10, the Warriorz will face the Royal Challengers Bangalore at Brabourne.

No Mooney for Gujarat Giants just yet.

Beth Mooney continues to provide Gujarat Giants with stressful times. The Australian wicketkeeper batsman, who was named captain by the Giants, retired from the first match due to injury. She did not play against the UP Warriorz and will not play against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Wednesday.

Mooney sustained a leg injury during the Giants’ first encounter against the Mumbai Indians on March 4; he faced only three deliveries in that game, which the Gujarat team lost decisively. Since then, the squad has been led by Sneh Rana, the vice-captain by designation. The Australian participated in a practice session, but she is not yet physically fit. The 29-year-old was acquired by the Giants for 2 crore INR at the auction.
