Washington Sundar can’t play for the rest of the IPL 2023 because he hurt his leg, his team, Sunrisers Hyderabad, said on Thursday (April 27).
Washington played in all seven of the team’s games in the first part of the tournament. He didn’t get a wicket in the first six games, but in the most recent game against the Delhi Capitals, he took three wickets in one over for a score of 3 for 24. The 23-year-old also got a quick 24* in 15 balls, which was his best score of the season, in that game in Hyderabad. However, his team still lost for the third time in a row.
The 2016 winners are currently in ninth place, with a record of 2-5. When they play the Capitals again on April 29 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, they won’t have the all-around balance that Washington gives them. This will make it harder for them to make a comeback.
The Tamil Nadu player has been hurt a lot lately. This is just the most recent one. Most recently, he hurt his left shoulder when he fell hard on it while playing catching for Lancashire in a Royal London One-Day Cup game. He missed the tour of Zimbabwe because of this. He also hurt his leg in the same way last February, which kept him from playing in T20Is at home against the West Indies. After that, he hurt his hand and missed a lot of games for SRH.
In 2021, after doing great things in the Gabba Test against Australia and the Ahmedabad Test against England, he hurt his finger while playing for a county team against India in a warm-up game at Chester le Street. He couldn’t play in the Tests against England, the rest of the IPL, or the T20 World Cup in the UAE because of this.
