India defeated Sri Lanka 3-0 in the home ODI series. After winning the first two matches to secure the series, the Men in Blue won the dead rubber on Sunday, January 15, in Thiruvananthapuram by a record 317 runs.

India scored 390/5 batting first after winning the toss. In-form Virat Kohli top-scored for the hosts with an unbeaten 166 off 110 balls, his second tonne of the series and third in his previous four ODI innings. Kohli and opener Shubman Gill (116 off 97) combined 131 for the second wicket.

Mohammed Siraj took four early wickets as Sri Lanka fell to 37/5 in 10 overs defending the massive score. Visitors collapsed for 73 in 22 overs. Siraj took 4/32 for India, while Mohammed Shami and Kuldeep Yadav both took two wickets.

India plays New Zealand next

India’s next challenge is New Zealand. They will host three ODIs and three T20Is against the Kiwis. The first ODI will be played in Hyderabad on January 18, followed by two more in Raipur (January 21) and Indore (January 23). (January 24).
Three T20Is follow three ODIs. Ranchi hosts the first of three T20Is (January 27). The series will end in Ahmedabad on February 1 after the second game in Lucknow on January 29.
