Get ready as “106 & Sports,” BET’s culture-forward sports countdown show, officially airs tonight, Wednesday, October 15, at 10 PM ET/9 PM CT on BET. Episodes will be streaming the following day on BET+.
Co-hosted by NFL legend Cam Newton and acclaimed media powerhouse Ashley Nicole Moss, expanding on the legacy of BET’s famed “106 & Park”, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, the series blends “unfiltered athlete perspective with sharp, fearless commentary, tapping directly into the fan energy that drives the game.”
The launch of the new era in sports begins with Newton and Moss welcoming their first guest, Claressa Shields, the undisputed Women’s Heavyweight Champion. She has the distinction of holding all four major titles (WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO) and is the only boxer, male or female, to hold undisputed titles in three different weight classes. Also, Gelo Ball stops by to discuss shining at the intersection of family, music, and sports. Newton and Moss will also count down the week’s biggest moments in sports and culture.
Executive produced by LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s The SpringHill Company, the award-winning studio within Fulwell Entertainment, with Jamal Henderson, Philip Byron, and Courtney Whitaker. Tiffany Lea Williams and Mimi Blanchard serve as Executive Producers.
In anticipation of the series, Newton shared that “106 & Sports” will be unlike any other show.
“This isn’t just a show about sports—it’s a show about the culture that makes the game,” Newton said. “When I think about ‘106 & Park,’ I remember how it was a voice for the culture. Now, we’re doing the same thing for sports. This is where you’ll get the real talk, the authentic insights, and the kind of conversations you won’t find anywhere else.”
“I know how much this iconic brand means to so many people, including myself. To carry that legacy forward with ‘106 & Sports’ is an honor,” Moss added. “My hope is for people to feel the same kind of connection with this show that they felt with ‘106 & Park.’”
