7 All Out: Japan International Rips Through Australian U17 Club Team With 6-4 After Scoring 99 | Cricket News Today – Wisden

Japan international Charlie Hara-Hinze starred with bat and ball in Queensland Premier Cricket on Sunday (November 9).

In Queensland Premier (grade) Cricket on Sunday, the U17 men’s teams of Western Suburbs and Northern Suburbs faced off at the Jack McLaughlin Park.

Northern skipper Eli Brain won the toss and elected to field first. They were in a spot of bother at 55-3, when Charles Hinze came out to the middle. But he put on 117 with Brain, who scored 63, to steer the side away from trouble.
Hinze himself went on to score 99 off 120 balls, before becoming the seventh wicket to fall, run out by Charlie McGrath. Norther Suburbs finished with 253-9 from their 50 overs.

While his batting display was impressive enough, Hinze was about to outdo himself.
Theo Tsingos struck early in the second innings to reduce Western Suburbs to 4-2. With his left-arm spin, Hinze accounted for the next three wickets to fall – Luke Mayer, Callum Pamenter and Agampartap Singh Ghuman – as Western added just two more runs. Tsingos took two more, removing Charlie McGrath and Charlie Franklin, reducing Western to 7-7.
Hinze returned to clean up the tail, dismissing Lachlan Ottobrino, Eklavya Yadav and Spencer Comyn for one, zero and zero respectively as Western were bowled out for just seven. He finished with bowling figures of 3.5-1-4-6, and Tsingos with 3-1-3-4.

Only recently turned 17, Charlie Hara-Hinze made his senior T20I debut for Japan in January 2024, at the age of 15. He has played 29 T20Is, batting primarily in the lower/lower-middle order.

Hinze’s bowling is undoubtedly his stronger suit. In international cricket, he has taken 33 wickets at an average of 13.93, and economy rate of 5.13. He has also represented Japan’s U19 side at two ACC U19 Asia Cups, in 2023 and 2024.
Japan have qualified for the upcoming ICC men’s U19 World Cup, and Hinze is expected to be part of the squad.
