USC/A-C’s Brant Blosser (middle of photo) set a new record last Saturday, May 31, in the 110-meter hurdles for Section 2A while qualifying for the State Class A Track Meet.
United South Central/Alden-Conger’s Brant Blosser and Jayden Barnick each earned trips to the Class A State Track Meet while competing at the Section 2A Meet in Mankato on Saturday, May 31.
To qualify to advance to the State Track Meet an individual had to place first or second in their event, or meet the State qualifying standard. To qualify for State as a relay team it was necessary to finish in first place or meet the State qualifying standard. The top eight individuals in each event along with the top eight relay teams receive All-Section honors.
Blosser not only qualified to go to State in the 110-meter hurdles, he did so in record-breaking fashion. His winning time of 14.62 set a new Section 2A record in that event and also was a personal record for the Rebels’ track star who also gained All-Section recognition by winning the race. Blosser also qualified for the State Track Meet in 2024.
USC/A-C’s other State qualifier was Jayden Barnick who had a personal-best leap of 6-2 in the high jump to finish second in the event and gain All-Section accolades.
Blosser was just one of three Rebels competing in the 110-meter hurdles. Isaac Hartman finished in ninth place with a time of 16.24 and Barnick was 15th in 17.84.
Hartman finished third in the 300-meter hurdles in 43.76. Teammate Jace Ignaszewski was fourth in 44.3 and Blosser was 14th in 46.94. For their performances, Hartman and Ignaszewski received All-Section honors.
USC/A-C’s Maxwell Schull was 11th in the 400-meter run with a time of 54.26.
In the 200-meter dash, the Rebels’ Alexis Arguijo was 14th in 25.3.
Laiken Farris was 16th in the 3200-meter run in 13:17.46.
Henry Beaver placed eighth in the shot put with a toss of 43-5 and Ezra Edwards was seventh in the discus with a throw of 126-6. Both Beaver and Edwards earned All-Section honors.
Angel Dejesus was sixth in the long jump with a leap of 20-1.5 to make the All-Section Team and Joshua Brooks was 10th in the pole vault at a height of 10-2.
USC/A-C Girls
The Rebels had three girls compete in the 100-meter high hurdles. Madison Passer finished 10th in 17.4, Sydney Sauke was 11th in 17.6 and Chloe Bullerman was 15th in 18.27.
Alexis Guenther finished 16th in the 1600-meter run with a time of 6:16.34.
Bullerman was eighth in the 300-meter hurdles in 51.1 to garner All-Section honors.
Sauke was ninth in the triple jump with a distance of 30-3.
Danyelle Dickson was injured during the running of the 200-meter dash and was unable to finish that event or compete in the 400-meter dash.
Blue Earth Area Boys
Jacob Grandgenett was fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.85 to earn All Section honors.
Jose Salinas was sixth in the 100-meter dash in 11.73 while Grandgenett finished 10th in 11.81. The sixth-place finish by Salinas earned him All-Section honors.
Marcus Eckles placed 11th in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.69 and 12th in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 46.57.
Chase Gambell was 11th in the shot put with a mark of 41-8.75.
Blue Earth Area Girls
Tailor Douglas had a personal-best mark in the pole vault when she cleared the bar at a height of 9-2 to finish in fourth place and earned her All-Section honors.
Taylor Ripley’s personal-best throw of 34-0.5 in the shot put her in sixth place and solidified her spot on the All-Section Team.
In the long jump, Kyannah Brandt had a leap of 14-8.25 to finish in 11th place while Sarah Dohm finished 13th in the triple jump with a mark of 29-6.
Emersen Weir was 10th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:40.11 and Aubrey Woodwick was 14th in 2:50.02.
Woodwick and Weir were joined by Sidney Eitzmann and Caitlin Eitzmann to compete in the 4×800-meter relay race where they finished in sixth place with a season-best time of 10:52.13. Their sixth-place finish earned them All-Section honors.
Breanna Hefner-Roggeman was 15th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.96.
“I am proud of these athletes, both the boys and girls, and their efforts throughout the season at practice and meets,” BEA head track coach Donna Nawrocki said. “Making it to the Section Meet is quite an honor.”
