    Just one game is left in the United South Central girls softball season, and it will determine whether the Rebels are the 2025 State Class A Champions.
    USC was slated to play the Badger/Green Bush-Middle River Gators on Friday night, June 6, at 6:30 p.m. at Jane Sage Cowles Stadium in Minneapolis in the State Championship game.
    That game was played after this week’s Faribault County Register had gone to press and details and photos will be in next week’s edition.
    The Rebels had won two shutout games on Wednesday, June 4, in order to get to the Championship game.
    They had shutout the Blackduck Drakes 12-0 in their first game, then blanked the Braham Bombers 6-0 in the night game.
    Both of those games had been originally scheduled to be played on Tuesday, June 3, at Caswell Park in North Mankato, but had been postponed due to heavy rains that day and were eventually rescheduled to Wednesday.
    USC 6, Braham 0
    After having defeated Blackduck 12-0 in the first game at 1:30 in the afternoon, the Rebels took on the Braham Bombers in the second game at 9 p.m. and won by a score of 6-0.
    USC scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning to get a commanding lead, then scored one more insurance run in the bottom of the sixth for the win.
    Meanwhile, USC pitcher Mariah Anderson had a great game, recording 20 strikeouts and allowing just one hit and no walks.
    The Rebels had nine hits in the game, including an inside the park homerun by Anderson in the sixth inning.
    Anderson and Brylee Neubauer each had two hits, while Ivy O’Rourke, Taylor Schroeder, Lilly Lutteke, Olivia Bungum and Carissa Hanson each had one hit in the game.
    Braham pitcher Alex Rysdam pitched six innings and gave up the six runs, all six earned, on nine hits. She walked one and struck out six.
    USC 12, Blackduck 0
    In the first game on Wednesday, the USC Rebels blanked the Blackduck Drakes 12-0 in a game that was just five innings long.
    Not only did USC outscore Blackduck 12-0, they also outhit the Drakes 11-0.
    The Rebels scored three runs in the first inning, two more in the second and then one more in the third.
    USC had already scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to increase their lead to 9-0 when Alivia Bruegger ended the game with a three-run homer. That made the score 12-0 and brought the 10-run rule into effect.
    Mariah Anderson, Ivy O’Rourke, Taylor Schroeder and Hannah Niebuhr all had two hits each, with Schroeder getting a double.
    Alivia Bruegger only had one hit but her home run also gave her three runs batted in. Carissa Hanson and Addie Mithun each had a hit for the Rebels.
    Anderson pitched the five innings and gave up no runs, hits or walks and struck out 13 batters.
    Anna Swedberg pitched the four and two-thirds innings and gave up 12 runs, with 11 earned, 11 hits, walked four and struck out seven.
